Katzenjammer are a fabulous all-girl four-piece band from Norway. They play over twenty instruments and rip up the rule book good and proper with their boundary defying sound.
It’s impossible to categorise Katzenjammer but let’s try: swinging, singing, cowboy-inspired circus fairground burlesque with all-out riotous, folk, pop & gypsy punk – not forgetting the occasional sweet and tender ballad to melt your soul.
Popular throughout Europe their live shows are when they are at their best. Its like a Bavarian Beerhouse hoedown, opera and folk show all rolled into one. As testament to the band’s egalitarian approach all four members swap instruments and share vocal duties – singing in English and often a cappella – with their giant contrabass Balalaika in tow.
